Vortiq EFB Privacy Policy

Vortiq EFB (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Vortiq EFB mobile application.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected and how it is used when you use the app.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information
When you create an account or sign in, we may collect your name, email address, user ID, authentication provider, account creation date, and account status. Authentication is handled using Firebase Authentication, including email/password sign-in and Sign in with Apple.

App Profile Data
We store basic account and access information in Firebase Firestore, such as your subscription or access status, active product ID, purchase provider, and related account metadata.

Flight and Operational Data
The app may store flight-related information you enter or sync, such as SimBrief username, callsign, route, airports, aircraft, fuel, performance values, briefing data, weather data, logbook entries, checklist data, scratchpad content, and app preferences.

Most operational flight data is stored locally on your device unless it is synced or retrieved through third-party services.

Third-Party Aviation Services
Vortiq EFB can connect to external services to provide aviation-related data:

• SimBrief: used to fetch your current flight package based on your SimBrief username.
• VATSIM: used to retrieve public live network data such as callsign, aircraft position, altitude, speed, and flight plan information.
• AviationWeather.gov: used to fetch METAR and TAF weather data.
• IVAO: used to fetch public ATIS information.
• SayIntentions: optional; if you enter an API key, it may be used to fetch ATIS/weather data.

Information sent to these services is limited to what is needed to provide the requested feature, such as a username, callsign, airport ICAO code, or API key.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide and maintain app functionality
• Authenticate users and manage accounts
• Sync and display flight, weather, and briefing information
• Store user preferences and operational data
• Manage account access and subscription status
• Improve app reliability and user experience
• Provide support when requested

3. Data Storage

Account data is stored using Firebase services.

Flight data, app settings, scratchpad data, logbook entries, weather preferences, and similar operational information may be stored locally on your device.

Some data may be retrieved from or sent to third-party services only when you use the related feature.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication
• Firebase Firestore
• Apple Sign In
• SimBrief
• VATSIM
• AviationWeather.gov
• IVAO
• SayIntentions, if enabled by the user

These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.

5. Payments and Subscriptions

If the app offers subscriptions or purchases, payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details.

We may store limited purchase-related metadata, such as product ID, subscription status, expiration date, and original transaction ID, to manage access to app features.

6. Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated account data by contacting us. The app may also provide an account deletion option.

Some locally stored data may remain on your device unless you delete the app or clear the related data manually.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Children’s Privacy

Vortiq EFB is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
